Resetting the Software

During our work in 3ds max, sometimes we want to exit and restart the software. Because 3ds max is memory hungry software, resetting may increase speed (sometimes, not always).

Reset clears all data and resets the program settings (viewport configuration, snap settings, Material Editor, background image, and so on). Resetting restores the start-up defaults.

Procedure to Reset 3ds max
  1. File Menu > Reset.

  2. If you have made any changes since the last Save operation, a dialog prompts you to save them. As further protection against data loss, a confirmation dialog appears.

  3. When asked if you really want to reset, click Yes.

  4. Clicking No on this dialog cancels the Reset operation.
