Course Contents

Engineering Drawing and Drafting
Lettering - types and techniques.
Scales - feet and metric.
Basic 2D and 3D (Isometric and Axonometric) drawing of different geometric and solid figures.
Interior architectural drawing - Plan elevation section views.

Fundamentals & Theory of Interior Design
In this module students learn to evaluate the fundamental components of design and specifically how they work together to create successful interior designs. Understanding how the organisation of various components relate to the effectiveness of the completed interior, will enable students to apply this knowledge in the development of their own designs achieving balance and harmony, and to manipulate components to accomplish special effects.

Space Planning
This module provides a framework in which students explore how people interact with interior space and how the interior environment influences the emotional and physical health & well-being of human occupants. Students must determine the key factors when designing spatial layouts and apply them in context by creating interior designs that support and nurture the various needs of its human occupants.

Computer Aided Drafting and Designing
Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) software has now become a standard design tool in architectural offices and the ability to use and work with CAD drawings produced in industry standard software programs is of considerable importance to interior designers.

AutoCAD is a standard software program that is commonly used by many architectural and large interior design firms. The aim of this module is to enable students to gain sufficient skill and ability using AutoCAD software so that they can fully integrate CAD into the design process when producing 2D drawings and presentations.

Colour Theory
Achieving the right colour balance is central to any successful interior design scheme, as even the most expensive materials will look cheap and garish if the colours are clashing. Although society greatly admires those who are naturally creative with colour, the ability to use colour is a skill that everyone can learn and there are simple (yet powerful) tools and techniques that successful designers use to create winning colour combinations time and time again.

Computer Graphics
Microsoft Word - Word Processing software.
Adobe Photoshop - Professional Image Editing software.
Corel Draw - Drawing and Illustration software.

Furniture Design
Furniture styles, different types, furnishings, Planning of Furniture layout in interior spaces and execution details.

Flooring - Design and study of different types of materials and flooring patterns.

Walls - Wall finishes, selection of materials and fixing techniques.

Doors & Windows - Design and study of different types.

Ceiling - Ceiling finishes, selection and installation techniques.

Materials & Finishes - Introduction of Interior Building materials & different finishes.

Lighting
Study of Natural and Artificial lighting and application in different ways to create a mood with special techniques.

Outstanding Interiors & Current Trends
Critical examination of few Outstanding Interior spaces of various types and the current International and Domestic trends.

Design of Interior spaces such as Kitchen, Bathrooms, Bedrooms, Living, Dining rooms and Design of various types of Interiors-Offices, Restaurants, Showrooms etc. Selection of Finishes, Furnishings, Fixtures, Equipments and Accessories.

Materials & Method
Advanced Study of materials & Methods and its applications, knowledge about the State of Art technology.

Constructions Details
Preparation of Construction details-Joinery details of woodwork, Built-in Furniture, Wall panelling, Partitions, Door & Windows, False ceiling & special details.
